Moto G, the cheap version of Motorola’s Moto X smartphone, will be launched at UK wireless carrier Vodafone with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system loaded on top right from the start.

The updated smartphone is expected to become available at the operator in a matter of days, a recent article on pocket-lint notes, though no specific info on when this will happen has been provided as of now.

Recently, Motorola has published on its support website all the necessary info regarding the Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade for the smartphone, which suggests that users should already be getting a taste of it.

However, pocket-lint suggests that the new OS upgrade hasn’t been officially released as of now, and that Motorola might announce its availability only next week at a press event set to take place on January 14.

Owners of this handset will receive a nice range of improvements as part of the update, including restyled status and navigation bars, better security capabilities, improved power management, and more.

“We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G by Motorola. With this upgrade you get the latest version of the Android OS (Android 4.4.2, KitKat), as well as new features, enhancements and bug fixes for your Moto G,” Motorola notes on its website.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat includes an updated phone app, enabling users to find contacts straight from the dial pad, while also packing new photo editing options to the Gallery app, as well as support for printing photos, Google Docs, Gmail messages, and more.

The platform update has already been pushed to Moto G devices in the United States, and it should not be too long before it arrives in other markets out there as well.

In the meantime, we’re waiting for Motorola to officially confirm more on its plans for the aforementioned January 14 event, which might be aimed at the release of Moto X in the UK, so stay tuned for more on this.
