Although UK-based carrier Vodafone has yet to release the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation owners will be happy to know that the operator announced the upcoming availability of the upgrade.

Vodafone UK officially announced on its forum that an Ice Cream Sandwich update for HTC Sensation would be available for download starting today.

According to the carrier, customers who own the Sensation would be able to upgrade OTA (over the air) via Wi-Fi connection.

Great news. The testing of the ICS update for HTC Sensation is complete, and we plan to start rolling out the update tomorrow, 29th March.

The update will be rolled out in phases by the Over The Air service, so if yours doesn’t appear right away, you can either wait for it to appear, or go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check now.

We’d recommend ensuring your phone is fully charged before beginning the update, and carrying it out over Wi-Fi.”

There’s no telling exactly when the carrier starts the rollout, which is why it’s recommended to manually check for the update from time to time.

In other news, Vodafone UK confirmed last week it was still testing the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II and would start delivering it as soon as trial tests were successfully completed.

Samsung Galaxy S II owners living in UK have already received the Android 4.0 update last week, while carrier-bounded units are still in the process of getting it. Three UK was the first to deliver the update, followed this week by O2.

Vodafone and Orange have yet to deploy the long-awaited upgrade for the Galaxy S II, but while the former did not mention any timeframe for the release, the latter stated it would start the push next month.
