One week after it officially confirmed that HTC Legend will taste the Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade, HTC is pushing the software upgrade to Vodafone UK customers. The update has been reported by Vodafone subscribers on the carrier's forum as being available since November 11th.

Even though the update was swiftly rolled out after the official announcement, it seems odd that HTC decided to go with a branded version before the unbranded one, as specified in its original statement: “The update has been progressing quite well, and in the coming weeks those with unbranded Legends should be receiving the update.

For those of you with carrier-branded versions of Legend there will be a slightly longer wait. Once we finalize the update within HTC, the software must then go through the appropriate approval process at each carrier that supports Legend on their network.

This is the same process for all of our handsets, and Legend is no different. Once our update has been approved by your specific carrier, you should then receive your software update. How long this process takes can vary, but our team is close to finishing the update and will then work with individual carriers for approval.”

Apparently the software upgrade is only available for Vodafone branded “Legends” in the UK, France and Germany, but this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Vodafone UK customers using the HTC Legend smartphone should check the Updates area on their device for the upgrade.

HTC Legend was made available on the market in spring 2010 and comes with Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz processor and features a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

Other key features of the Android-based smartphone include: Sense UI, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 2 Mbps, 384 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS with A-GPS support and 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.
