Galaxy S III is not yet available for purchase, but interest in it is growing stronger, and carriers report high pre-orders for it.

Vodafone UK is the latest wireless operator to do so, confirming recently that it registered a great deal of reservations for the high-end smartphone.

In fact, the mobile phone carrier notes that Samsung’s new flagship device is the most pre-ordered Android-based handset in its lineup.

"We've been really encouraged by our customers' response to the Samsung Galaxy S III," a Vodafone spokesperson told The Inquirer.

“With over a week to go until launch, it’s already the most pre-ordered Android device we’ve brought into our smartphone line-up to date and our limited time offer of 2GB of mobile data and 100 free music tracks is being snapped up,” the wireless carrier said.

Last week, Samsung said that it already registered orders for over 9 million Galaxy S III units, which suggests that the phone could become their fastest selling mobile product soon.

Earlier this week, The Carphone Warehouse also confirmed increased interest in the new Android mobile phone.

The retailer confirmed that pre-orders were above expectations, and that thousands of users rushed to reserve Galaxy S III units the very day it became available for pre-order.

Boasting a large 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display and a quad-core application processor pack inside (along with 1GB of RAM), the Galaxy S III seems to be the most appealing handset of the year.

The phone also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a 1.9 front camera for video calling, 16GB /32GB / 64GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expanding it by up to 64GB.

It builds on the success of Galaxy S II and brings along various hardware and software enhancements, including Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI loaded on top.
