UK carrier Vodafone has recently announced that it has removed the HTC EVO 3D from its lineup due to numerous delays to the launch of the smartphone.

This is an important blow for HTC, one that could turn the tides of supremacy on the smartphone market, as the GSM version of the HTC EVO 3D was one of the few devices of the Taiwanese handset manufacturer that could rival Samsung's Galaxy S II.

However, it appears that Vodafone UK is content with its current portfolio, as the carrier stated that the constant delays of the EVO 3D only add to the frustration of its customers, thus it prefers to offer them other devices, including the Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation.

Although this might be disappointing for Android fans and tinkerers who were expecting for the EVO 3D to arrive, it is likely that the number of UK customers who are still waiting for the smartphone is almost negligible.

According to a Vodafone UK spokeperson, “We’ve decided that due to delays to the launch of the device, we no longer plan to include the EVO 3D in our smartphone range. We will be contacting customers who have registered for updates about the device to make them aware of this decision shortly.”

Fortunately, the HTC EVO 3D is already available for purchase in North America, so not all is lost for the Taiwanese handset manufacturer.

We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2, with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline,” added the Vodafone UK spokesperson.

Even though there is no confirmation about any glasses-free 3D smartphones that could be launched by Vodafone UK in the near future, it is expected that the carrier will pick the LG Optimus 3D instead of the recently ditched HTC EVO 3D.
