As expected, Google's Nexus S Android smartphone has been made available in Romania through Vodafone. The device can be purchased for as low as 149 Euro with a new two-year contract or 529 Euro unlocked.

Earlier last month, the carrier announced that it would bring the Nexus S to 24 more countries through Vodafone stores and partner market stores.

Romanians are among the first European customers that are be able to purchase the Nexus S, along users living in UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, France and Russia.

For the moment, only the black version of the device is available for purchase at Vodafone Romania, as the white version is subject to exclusivity rights.

Furthermore, it seems that Vodafone's Nexus S will be shipped with a 4-inch Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and not the superior Super AMOLED display. It is unclear if this is the case for all 24 countries.

The Nexus S is powered by a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile platform.

The smartphone marks Google's second collaboration with a handset manufacturer (Samsung), after the company partnered with HTC for the Nexus One and G1 handsets.

Even though it has 16GB of internal memory and 512 MB RAM, the Nexus S lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Other interesting features include HSDPA, DLNA function, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, and social networking integration through Social Hubs.

It also packs a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and flash focus, as well as secondary VGA front-facing camera for video-calls.

The handset features a powerful Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which is rated for up to 713 hours (428 hours for 3G) of standby time or 14 hours (6 hours 40 minutes for 3G) of talk time.
