Today, wireless carrier Vodafone announced the launch of eight new handsets that sport the company's own branding. Among these devices, we can count the first Android-based phone to sport Vodafone's branding on it, along with ultra low cost, fashionable handsets, as well as a series of new cellphones that boast mobile Internet capabilities.

Vodafone 845, the first Android handset in the carrier's portfolio of own-branded devices, is expected to become available for purchase in 12 Vodafone markets, UK included. The new mobile phone runs under the Android 2.1 platform, sports a 3-megapixel photo snapper, a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity options, pre-loaded Vodafone 360 services, and access to the Android Market. The Vodafone 845 should land on the market in May, and it can be seen on the carrier's website here.

The phone will also boast appealing Internet capabilities, the same as another new handset from Vodafone does, namely the Vodafone 546. This device sports a full QWERTY keyboard, a slim design, and packs the Opera Mini browser inside, so as to enable an enhanced web browsing experience. Moreover, the device includes email and SMS chat capabilities, along with a 2.2-inch landscape display.

Next on the list come the Vodafone 543 and 547, both with touchscreen displays and low price tags. Vodafone 543 comes with exchangeable covers in the box, sports a 2.4-inch touchscreen, the Opera Mini browser, and Vodafone's pre-pay balance indicator. The Vodafone 547, a stylish 2.8-inch touchscreen phone, packs the same browser inside, and should become available for purchase in three color options, namely black, red and white.

Vodafone's ultra low cost offering has been expanded with four new devices, the Vodafone 246, 247, 248 and 350/345. The first of them comes with standard voice and text features, coupled with FM radio, a torch, and Vodafone’s pre-pay balance indicator. The Vodafone 247 is another basic handset, boasting the same features as 246, to which it adds an integrated solar panel so that it can be charged while on the go.

As for the last two new phones, here's what the carrier has to say: - The Vodafone 248 is a stylish slider phone featuring a large colour display with standard call and text options as well as an FM radio. - The Vodafone 350 and 345 are variants of an ULCH with full QWERTY keyboard – designed to be perfect for messaging, be it SMS or SMS Chat. The slightly higher specification Vodafone 350 also offers easy WAP access to MMS and Email. Both devices have an FM radio, calculator and currency convertor and they are available in black, white or pink.
