Vodafone Germany has admitted suffering yet another data breach. This time, it doesn’t involve any hackers. Instead, a temporary employee dumped documents containing sensitive customer information in the trash.

According to German publication Telecom Handel, the incident occurred at a partner agency in Kaiserslautern. The disposed documents contained addresses, copies of identity cards and bank details.

The most likely scenario is that the employee mistook the documents for normal paper and threw it in a paper recycling bin on the street. Normally, the files should have been destroyed.

Vodafone says that it has informed the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and the Federal Network Agency of the breach. The telecoms company says it will take this opportunity to further raise awareness among its employees of privacy issues.

Back in September, Vodafone Germany admitted being targeted by cybercriminals who managed to steal the information of 2 million customers.
