MTC-Vodafone Bahrain and RIM have announced the launch of two new Blackberry smartphones, the Pearl and the 8707v in Bahrain.

The two handsets will be available from the Vodafone shops as well as through Vodafone's corporate sales team. Under an agreement, MTC Vodafone has access to Vodafone's Global Frame Agreement with RIM, enabling MTC Vodafone customers to benefit from the operator's global sourcing of Blackberry smartphones and 24/7 technical support.

"Mobile access to email and business information is becoming an essential business tool, and now both corporate and individual users can enjoy combined functionality of a full-featured BlackBerry smartphone with the added appeal of style and affordability," said Dr Ahmed Al Shatti, MTC-Vodafone (Bahrain) Chief Operating Officer.

"Both the BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry 8707v provide effortless mobile connectivity, allowing all our customers the ability to stay in touch with the web, friends, family, loved ones - and even the office!"

The Blackberry Pearl, one of RIM's smallest and lightest smartphones, is already very popular among consumers. With a glossy black case, it comes with the fast EDGE technology, a built-in camera, several multimedia capabilities and a memory card slot. Slightly more advanced as features, the Blackberry 8707v comes with support for UMTS and was designed to fit the needs of the most pretentious business professional.

It is equipped with a QWERTY keyboard providing a convenient way to compose emails and documents; it also brings fast access to mobile Internet and can also be used as a modem to provide Internet access on laptop computers. Through the 'Vodafone Today' UI it includes, the handset is also very easy to use.
