Samsung’s latest Android-based flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III, is getting ready to get a taste of the Jelly Bean platform release at Vodafone in Australia, the wireless carrier has confirmed.

At the moment, the process is still in its early stages, as Samsung is currently gearing up to submit the upgrade for testing at Vodafone.

No specific timeline for when that might happen has been provided as of yet, or on how long it would take Vodafone to test and approve the software.

“Manufacturer preparing update for submission to Vodafone for testing,” is all that the wireless services provider has announced on its website.

At the moment, Galaxy S III is running under Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich Maintenance Release 2, and its users are certainly eagerly waiting to grab a taste of the latest platform iteration out there.

In addition to Galaxy S III, Vodafone also expects to be able to upgrade the Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the not too distant future.

The same as for the flagship handset, Vodafone announced on its website that Jelly Bean is expected to be submitted for testing soon.

However, no details regarding the availability of this software update for other smartphones on the wireless carrier’s network have been provided for the time being.

“In addition to the recent upgrade for the Nexus S, at this stage the only other confirmations we have received regarding Jelly Bean are for the GALAXY Nexus and Samsung GALAXY S III,” the operator stated.

“We do not have any further information regarding potential upgrades to any other existing devices,” the company continued.

However, the carrier did unveil that it has finished the testing of Ice Cream Sandwich for Sony’s Xperia S smartphone, that it has sent a report to the phone maker and that it is currently waiting for a response “to a number of outstanding queries.”

Hopefully, it won’t be too long before these smartphones, along with other devices available on Vodafone’s network will receive their upgrades, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
