Australian wireless carrier Vodafone has announced that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update has been approved for the Sony Xperia Z devices on its network.

In fact, the new firmware is already rolling out to Xperia Z users out there, with a nice range of enhancements packed inside, Vodafone explains.

Featuring build number 10.3.A.0.433, the update arrives over-the-air and is free of charge, but users can also download and install it via the Sony PC Companion desktop application, it seems. The upgrade weighs 180MB if downloaded OTA.

The new software iteration  comes on devices with general stability and performance improvements, new "Increasing Ringtone" and "Pulse Notification" settings, application security improvements, and with lockscreen widgets.

Furthermore, it sports customizable "Quick Settings" in the notification bar, transparent notification and navigation bar, and brings along support for the My Xperia service.
