Mobile phone carrier Vodafone Australia has just made available for purchase on its airwaves a new smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Motorola Milestone 2.

Announced as being on its way to the Australian market a while ago, Vodafone users in the country have now the possibility to purchase the new device from their wireless carrier.

The smartphone was added to Vodafone's offering with various price options attached to it, including a $0 upfront cost on the carrier's $85 per month plan. The offer is available upon the signing of a 24-month contract agreement with the carrier.

As for other options available, we can count the $45 per month plan with the device going for $15 Per month, or the $65 per month offer, which includes paying $5 per month for the new Motorola Milestone 2.

The $65 per month plan is said to be the most popular offer, providing users with 2GB of data for mobile Internet, INFINITE access to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, FourSquare & LinkedIn within Australia+, and unlimited minutes and texts, all with a total minimum cost of $1680 over 24 months.

In case there are some of you who might have not encountered the device before, we should note that it comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, complemented by a touchscreen display that can offer a 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

The handset also includes a 5.0 megapixels photo snapper, along with 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB card included into the mix).

The handset measures 115.8 x 60 x 13.7 mm and weighs in at 169 grams. Its battery can offer up to 360 minutes of talk time, or up to 312 hours of standby time.

Support for 3G networks was also included into the mix, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, and other functionalities more.
