Today, Australian wireless carrier Vodafone officially announced plans to make the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link 4G tablet PC available for purchase on its network.

The new slate will land on shelves on August 14 and will be the first in Australia to sport 4G Cat 4 technology inside.

“This ‘Cat 4’ device will allow customers to take full advantage of Vodafone’s superfast 4G network, built on 2 x 20MHz contiguous spectrum in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide,” the wireless carrier announced.

“Vodafone says the Cat 4 technology of the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link 4G is capable of theoretical speeds of up to 150Mbps in these areas.”

Basically, the new slate should be able to provide users with the fastest connectivity experience in the country, Vodafone claims.

“Not only do we have the fastest 4G data speeds available in Sydney and Melbourne, we are now also proud to exclusively offer the fastest tablet in Australia,” Katie Turkal, general manager of devices at Vodafone, said.

The new tablet PC will land on shelves at Vodafone Australia with a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor packed inside, and Dolby Digital Plus sound.

Huawei also packed the device with a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot.

Furthermore, the slate features a large 6400mAh battery, while running under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

“The Huawei MediaPad 10 Link 4G has been built for speed at a price everybody can afford, and makes the best technology accessible to all Australians,” said Huawei Devices Head of Marketing Mark Treadwell.

Starting with August 14, Vodafone customers will be able to purchase the new device online on the carrier’s website, as well as via Retail, Business, Select, Mo’s, Allphones and Vodafone Independent Postpaid Dealers.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link 4G will be added to Vodafone’s lineup on monthly plans starting at $35 (€26.39) per month, with a two-year contract and 2.5GB of data each month.
