Mobile phone carrier Vodafone Australia has decided to halt the delivery of the latest software update for the owners of a Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone.

The update started to arrive on devices at this wireless operator a few days ago, but the discovery of a bug in it determined the company to halt its roll-out.

The issue affects the volume of music playback, which could “behave erratically” under certain circumstances, resulting in “the volume exceeding allowable levels on the device.”

The software update Firmware 12070 for Nokia Lumia 800 will no longer be pushed out until the issue is resolved, the company announced.

Moreover, the carrier notes that users who have already downloaded and installed the new update should restore their devices to a previous version of the firmware.

The steps to do that have been described in this support article on Microsoft’s website.

“Alternatively, customers may drop off their mobile phone to any Vodafone store and we will organise the software swap to be completed at one of our service centres,” the wireless carrier announced.

According to Vodafone, the software swap could take up to five days, but those users who bring their phones to its service centers will be given a loan handset during this time.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this software fault and appreciate our customers’ cooperation and patience at this time,” the company continues.

Firmware 12070 for Nokia Lumia 800 was meant to deliver enhanced battery performance to all users and also included a series of improvements for the camera.

Moreover, the update enabled the phone’s camera to automatically detect 50/60Hz to remove flicker in stills and videos. Featuring OS version 7.10.8107.79, the update also offered improved charger detection.

Vodafone will provide additional details on the fixing of said issue in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more on this.
