Along with announcing the availability of Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy S devices

on its airwaves, Australian wireless carrier Vodafone also unveiled a series of details on a similar upgrade for its Nexus One customers.

The wireless services provider is currently gearing up for the deployment, as the testing phase was already completed, but they are currently waiting for Google to give the green light, it seems.

“Good news for Nexus One users out there. Testing for Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’ on the Nexus One has been completed from our end,” the carrier notes in a recent blog post.

“We have given our approval to Google to implement and we are now awaiting Google to release this update to all Nexus One customers in Australia.”

Unfortunately, there is no telling on how long that would take, but we can expect for the upgrade process to kick off very soon, that's for sure.

After all, Google has already made the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS flavor available for Nexus One users, though carrier branded devices were left a little behind.

Even so, we should note that Vodafone already started the deployment of this software update for its Nexus One users in Europe.

Apparently, the wireless carrier needed a little more time to make the software update available for its customers on the Australian continent, but it should not be too long before the software arrives on their devices.

What remains to be seen is what specific flavor of Gingerbread will be released on Nexus One devices on Vodafone Australia's airwaves.

In Europe, the wireless carrier brought its Nexus One devices up to Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, and the same platform version might be set to land on handsets on the Australian market as well.

Vodafone Australia announced that the specific release date for this update will be delivered to users as soon as Google unveils more on its plans for the new software.
