Leading international mobile telecommunications company Vodafone Group and Tele Atlas announced today that the recently launched Vodafone 360 will deliver Tele Atlas maps and location content to its mobile and PC users. Moreover, the Tele Atlas digital maps and location-based content are also included in all of the carrier's location-based services (LBS) and navigation offerings.

Vodafone 360, in case there are some of you who might not know, brings together all the contacts, social-network status updates and messaging services of customers in one place, and is meant to enhance the experience users receive from social media on their mobile phone or PC. In addition, the service set enables users to share photos, music and locations with friends. At the same time, Vodafone notes that its users can benefit from Tele Atlas’ global digital map content and products, which deliver points of interest (POIs) and 2D City Maps.

The Vodafone 360 “Maps and Places,” which is powered by the Tele Atlas maps, enables users to: - Navigate with turn-by-turn maps and voice guidance; - Connect with friends on maps and share their locations with each other in real time so users can see each other on the map; - Tag the location of favorite places and share with connected friends; and - Send their location to other friends with an address and map link. According to Tommy Ahlers, CEO of Location Services, Vodafone Group, location content and maps are a key component when it comes to providing users with a rich mobile experience, and the Tele Atlas maps enable the carrier to meet customers' demand for high-quality services and navigation. “With Vodafone 360, our customers have a truly integrated mobile Internet experience that gathers all their contacts and content, and enables much of it with great location information,” he adds.

The Vodafone 360 services with Tele Atlas maps can be enjoyed by the carrier's users in Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK. “The Vodafone 360 service successfully merges the user’s world with location services to create a truly dynamic mobile experience,” Peter van der Fluit, Tele Atlas senior vice president of sales and marketing, said. “Tele Atlas’ global map and content expertise, combined with Vodafone’s industry leadership and vision, creates the ideal partnership to deliver rich, connected offerings across the broadest global footprint.”
