It wasn't long ago that Vizio first unveiled its massive series of CinemaWide TVs and, now, it looks like the time when sales begin is drawing closer and closer.

Vizio was present at this year's edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, CES 2012, so it put a few things on display in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One of those things was a veritably huge TV set, one that let people gaping in astonishment, for one or more out of a variety of reasons.

Simply put, the CinemaWide LCD TV has a diagonal of 58 inches and an aspect ratio of 21:9, the same one used by movie theaters. Meanwhile, the native resolution is of 2,560 x 1,080 pixels.

The list of specifications goes on with Theater 3D support (the LED-backlit display has a refresh rate of 120 Hz), built-in Wi-Fi and Vizio Internet Apps

“With expanded entertainment options from TV apps and 3D movies, sports and games, consumers expect more from their TV than just great picture quality," stated John Schindler, VIZIO VP of product management, back in January when the first official launch was made.

“That's why we've worked tirelessly with our suppliers and partners to create a full lineup for 2012 that gives our customers the best in class smart TV experience with VIZIO Internet Apps, along with our award-winning Theater 3D technology at an unmatched value for every household.”

Obviously, only people with a lot of money to spare will be able to buy this thing, as the price is of $3,499 / 2,663 Euro.

Customers will also have to make sure they have a large enough room to put this TV in. Finally, they will have to decide if this sort of beast is really worth buying, when a projector could serve just fine for movies. Go here for more information.
