LCD TV manufacturer Vizio has just announced that it is ready to take on the Android market, as the company is expected to launch a tablet and a smartphone running on Google's mobile platform

Labeled as Via Tablet and Via Phone, both Android devices are scheduled for release this summer.

Vizio, as small company based in Irvine, California, is mostly known for its inexpensive flat-panel TVs, which are sold through retail outlets like Walmart.

The company hit the jackpot in 2005 when it delivered more LCD TVs in US than any other company present on the market.

Even though its products are said to be of low build quality, the company is still one of the best-selling brand in the US.

Vizio is planning to apply the same strategy for its new unannounced Android devices. Via Tablet and Via Phone will be available for attractive prices through various retail outlets such as Walmart.

Furthermore, the company announced that the smartphone would also be distributed through a major carrier, but it hasn't mentioned any names yet.

Both Android devices are expected to be showcased at CES 2011, while the official announcement may go live in the next 24 hours.

Information about Vizio's Via Tablet is scarce, but we know that it will come with an 8-inch touch display, front facing camera, three speakers, HDMI out, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity.

It is unknown what Android version the tablet will run on, but rumors point that it could be Honeycomb.

Also, the manufacturer stated that the tablet won't have any cellular service features.

Via Phone is said to have a 4-inch touch display, a front facing camera for video-calls and a 5-megapixel camera on the back with video recording capabilities.

There's no word about prices yet, but we can expect real bargains from the company that sells some of the cheapest LCD TVs in the US.
