Chinese mobile phone maker Vivo is reportedly getting ready for the launch of multiple color flavors of its upcoming Xplay 3S smartphone, which is set to land on shelves with a 2k touchscreen display.

According to a leaked photo that emerged over at Weibo, the smartphone will be released in blue, champagne gold, yellow, pink, and white variants.

While no official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, the leaked photo does show devices that feature the same outer design as the previously spotted handset, which suggests that it could be real.

Vivo is expected to make the new Xplay 3S official in China on December 12, and it should launch it as the first smartphone in the world to pack a screen capable of delivering the aforementioned 2k (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The display is said to be of 5.5 inches.

Furthermore, the device should land on shelves with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor inside, paired with 3GB of RAM. No info on the phone’s storage capabilities has been provided as of now.

On the back, the new handset will sport a camera with large aperture (f/1.8), though no pixel count has been unveiled as of now for it.

The upcoming mobile phone is also expected to arrive on the market with TD-LTE connectivity packed inside, which will make it fit for the network of Chinese wireless carrier China Mobile.

Other specs of the device are not known for the time being, but we should see it featuring one of the latest flavors of Android loaded on top, along with the usual set of connectivity options and sensors.

Other Chinese mobile phone makers are also planning the launch of smartphones featuring 2k resolution screens, such as Meizu, yet it will take a while longer before vendors outside the country will also bring similar smartphones to the market, as UnwiredView notes.
