The thinnest smartphone in the world is now official, none other than the previously rumored Vivo X1, which was launched in China today.

The smartphone features a slim 6.55mm body, but is said to pack appealing specs, including a 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, and a dual-core MTK6577 processor.

Moreover, the handset was made official with 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a front camera for making video calls.

The Android 4.1-based phone was announced as a device aimed mainly at music enthusiasts, and it has already been released for pre-order in China, gizchina reports.

Unfortunately, no specific info on when the device might be released in other markets around the world has emerged so far, though chances are that these details will be announced soon, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
