Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is quite worried about the fate of our planet. However, unlike most environmentalists, she's not going after coal power plants and other dirty energy sources. It's consumerism that she wishes to see put an end to.

This past Sunday, Vivienne Westwood got to show a new collection as part of the London Fashion Week.

According to Ecorazzi, the models that walked the runway all wore shirts and hats that had the phrase “Climate Revolution” written on them.

The message was supposed to raise awareness of the fact that people can improve on their ecological footprint simply by buying less.

“Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity. Everybody’s buying far too many clothes,” the fashion designer told the press.

“Instead of buying six things, buy one thing that you really like. Don’t keep buying just for the sake of it,” she added.

All things considered, the London Fashion week probably wasn't the best time and place for Vivienne Westwood to urge people to buy less clothes.

But then again, the event does get a lot of publicity, so, at least from this standpoint, the fashion designer made a smart choice.
