Bourne Identity

Up until now, producers have been making movie-inspired games, but it seems that this source of stories has its limits, so lately, they have started to turn their eyes to books.

Vivendi Universal Games has singed an exclusivity contract with Robert Ludlum, author of bestsellers, such as Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy.

In this way, just like Ubisoft, which has a similar contract with Tom Clancy, Vivendi Universal Games is joining the producers which will release book-based games, among which Electronic Arts, with Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter.

It's likely that, given the nature of Jason Bourne, the hero, and the type of books written by Robert Ludlum, the games inspired by this universe will be focused on espionage and conspiracies, in other words, a sort of alert Sprinter Cell.

Robert Ludlum has published so far 29 books, which brought him $290 million. Financial details of the contract between Vivendi Universal Games and Ludlum have not been disclosed and VU Games officials haven't specified on what platforms the titles will be available on.

Since this is 2005, and it takes around 2 years to develop a game, the first title from this franchise will probably be released towards the end of 2007.
