After it was made popular by Apple and its first-generation iPhone, Visual Voice Mail has been embedded in Sprint's Samsung Instinct and now Verizon Wireless is offering the service too. The application that brings you Visual Voice Mail is offered by Verizon for free and is currently available only for the popular LG Voyager touchscreen handset. More exactly, for a new version of it, called Voyager Refresh, which doesn't seem to bring any new stuff besides the VVM capabilities.

Of course, those who already own a Voyager can also get the application from Verizon's official website, found at this address.

In the words of Verizon, the new app lets you "view caller and voice mail information and listen to voice mail messages in any order" on your handset. Thus, you can browse and listen to your messages with ease, as well as answer or add new contacts from the VVM menu.

Released by Verizon in the fall of 2007, LG Voyager has quickly become a popular touchscreen phone across the US. The handset packs the following features: a 2.8 inch TFT internal touchscreen display with tactile feedback (thanks to the VibeTouch technology), 400 x 240 pixels and 262K colors, a similar non-touchscreen internal display, a full QWERTY keyboard, full HTML browser, email, Bluetooth 2.0, music and Video players, dual speakers, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, VZ Navigator, V CAST Mobile TV, V CAST Video, V CAST Music with Rhapsody and expandable memory (up to 8GB).

After a $50 online discount, the Voyager can be bought from Verizon for as little as $99 with a two-year contract agreement.

Most probably, the V-carrier will make the Visual Voice Mail application available for other handsets too. For example, Samsung Glyde, LG Venus and the new LG Dare can surely benefit from its features.
