Microsoft has made available for download a new version of the Identity Developer Training Kit tailored to the latest iteration of its development platform.

Developers can now head over to the Microsoft Download Center and grab the Identity Developer Training Kit release tailored to Visual Studio 2010.

Just as the previous version of the kit, the latest download is offered free of charge by the Redmond company.

“The Identity Developer Training Kit contains a set of hands-on labs, documents and references that will help you to learn how to take advantage of Microsoft's latest identity and access control developer's products and services,” the software giant stated.

At the bottom of this article developers will be able to find not only the Identity Developer Training Kit downloads, but also links to access the free trial Builds of Visual Studio 2010.

Additional resources packed into the Identity Developer Training Kit include not only presentations and pointers, but also training videos, which devs will be able to take advantage of.

Microsoft continues to offer two distinct versions of the Identity Developer Training Kit. Devs need to opt for the most recent release, namely the Identity Developer Training Kit (February 2011) for Visual Studio 2010 RTM, but downloads of Identity Developer Training Kit (March 2010) for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 are also provided.

“Please download the version corresponding to your primary development environment,” Microsoft said.

“Note that the two versions of the training kit will not work side by side. Also note: the March 2010 version is included for backward compatibility only, and it does not contain presentations or videos.”

Identity Developer Training Kit February 2011 is designed to play nice with a range of technologies, including: .NET Framework 4.0 and Windows Identity Foundation SDK 4.0.

Obviously, this release is tailored to Visual Studio 2010, and according to Microsoft, devs will be able to leverage it while also working with Windows Azure Tools for VS.

“After downloading the training kit, run the self-extracting executable to extract all of the training kit files to your local machine,” the company added.

“After the content is extracted, the starting page for the training kit will be displayed in your default browser. You can then browse through the individual hands-on labs, videos and presentation files.”
