For now, Apple says "stay away"

Do you remember the iTunes Repair Tool for Vista released last week? Just like everyone else, I thought that the troubled times for those that already moved to Vista and want to use iTunes just like before are finally over, but... it seems that the way things are at this time, I was wrong. Please allow me to explain...

The purpose of the tool mentioned earlier is to repair permissions for important files required by iTunes to play your tracks purchased from the iTunes Store, and this is exactly what it does. Unfortunately, the trouble is not over here, since Apple is still working on the next Windows version of its iTunes software, because only a part of the compatibility issues known at this time are the contacts and calendars that will not sync with your iPod, slowness of the Cover Flow animation, and even the fact that if you eject an iPod from the Windows System Tray using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature, your player may become corrupted, so to stay safe, you always have to use the Eject iPod command from the Controls menu inside iTunes.

Although you may upgrade to Vista, get the iTunes Repair Tool and run it, then use your iPod and iTunes without problems, things are not 100 percent certain at this time, since Apple recommends its customers to wait until the next update to iTunes comes out. Another reminder from Apple says that those already in the Vista realms experiencing problems with their iTunes tracks should get the tool mentioned earlier and run it after reinstalling the current version of the software, 7.0.2.

Despite the latest "virtual clashes" between Microsoft and Apple, the Redmond giant said that it has a team working with Apple to solve the existing issues with iTunes on Vista, so the future may sound good, after all...
