Vista users have the possibility not only to upgrade their operating system, but also to update their wardrobe. Following the footsteps of global fashion capitals Milan, New York and Paris,
Redmond's T-shirt collection is bound to redefine the operating systems' pret-a-porte trends. Addressing a public with an elevated fashion sense that wouldn't be caught dead in an Apple T-shirt, Vista-Ware offers more than an item of clothing, it marks an "exclusive" community whose booting computers display: "Windows Vista." David Vronay, Microsoft Research Manager has pointed via the Shell: Revealed bolg the way to an image gallery of the Vista-Ware collection.

"We don't often talk about it openly, but there is one area where everyone knows that Microsoft has historically been way behind Apple. It is just one of those places where Apple places an emphasis up-front while we have considered it almost an afterthought or even optional. Those of us who have worked at both companies know that it is more than a difference in priorities - it is really a different outlook on how to make software. In fact, at Apple this one area is often considered more important than the entire rest of the product combined," wrote Vronay.

He is of course talking about T-shirts. And according to sources close to Microsoft, the Redmond Company's concerns have shifted from the distribution of unlicensed copies of its software, copyright infringement and anti-trust issues to problems related to bootlegged merchandise and fake T-shirts, Vista-Ware piracy reaching an unprecedented high.

"For Vista, we have made a concerted effort to have more t-shirts and better t-shirts, and the progress thus far has been impressive. We still have a long way to go in changing the views of upper management (for example, we still have to actually have an approved project before making a t-shirt for it) but Rome wasn't built in a day," concluded Vronay.
