Well it's been around for a while, but I have just come across it, and consequently am serving it on. Lucy you! Right? OK, now we have to get a thing straight from the get go. If you are not a Windows application developer just move on, this is not for you. But if you are, Microsoft has made available an excellent resource on Windows Vista. You can access the Windows Vista Application Development Requirements for User Account Control Compatibility here.

"This white paper is intended to assist application developers with designing Windows Vista capable applications that are User Account Control compliant. Detailed steps about the design process are included, along with code samples, requirements, and best practices. This paper also details the technical updates and changes to the user experience in Windows Vista," reads the presentation of the whitepaper put together by Jennifer Allen, technical writer with the Windows Security Core and the User Account Control team.

I will not go into details, but I will warn you that this is a preliminary document and that the one corresponding to the final commercial release of Windows Vista may differ to a smaller or higher degree. Now I'm sure you want to get right to developing UAC compliant applications for Windows Vista, so I will let you get to it. Just check the link provided above and the whitepaper.
