Microsoft's high end edition of the Windows Vista operating system is starring in the Ultimate Video Relay contest. An invitation to put together the ultimate story on film, the Ultimate Video Relay is designed to be as simple as: "write, shoot, vote, win," according to the organizers, namely the team responsible for the high end SKU of Vista and TriggerStreet. Of course that the Ultimate reference is not accidental and, by throwing the operating system into the mix, the Windows Vista Ultimate team aims to emphasize the relevance of the platform in film production. The challenge is to come up with alternative stories designed to continue the Act 1 video authored by award-winning director Kyle Newman. Contestants will have no less than two acts to prove themselves available.

"Their team of pro's (directed by Kyle Newman) has created a 5-minute video and now it's up to YOU to create the next five minutes. Right now, all you have to do is write a killer script- and if you're one of the winners you'll get all the tools you need to actually shoot it. You can see the first couple minutes of Kyle's movie here, and then head to their site to get started on your own," revealed Channel 10's Laura Foy.

The contest was launched at the debut of May 2008, and its various stages will only come to an end on September 24, 2008. The Windows Vista Ultimate team and TriggerStreet are offering no less than 13 prize packages, each containing a Falcon DRX Laptop 17", Pinnacle Studio Ultimate, a Sony HDR-SR11 Handycam and, of course, a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate.

"Windows Vista Ultimate Software - easily shift between the worlds of productivity and play with the most complete edition of Windows Vista. Ultimate provides the power, security, and mobility features needed for work, and all the entertainment features that you want for fun. If you want the ultimate experience, be sure your next PC is equipped with Windows Vista Ultimate," reads the description of the operating system from the Ultimate Video Relay website.
