Along with video content

The preview version of DreamScene for Windows Vista Ultimate has made its way on peer-to-peer networks. Currently, the Microsoft technology exclusive to the high-end edition of Windows Vista is in a Technical Preview phase. Microsoft has made little progress with the delivery of both DreamScene and the additional video content, since Windows Vista hit the shelves on January 30, 2007.

Windows DreamScene is designed to enable video backgrounds for Windows Vista Ultimate. As such, downloads are limited through the update mechanism in the Ultimate edition of Vista. All other copies of Windows cannot access DreamScene. Since mid March 2007, when it delivered both the Windows DreamScene Content Pack and the DreamScene Technical Preview, the Ultimate Extras team has given little other signs of life, not to mention progress.

Hackers however, have been a little more active. DreamScene is no longer a component reserved for Vista, as it is available for download outside of Microsoft. Various torrent trackers offer both video content and even DreamScene for download.

The offerings seem to include the DreamScene Technical Preview stripped from Windows Vista Ultimate. However, the torrents are limited to just the 32-bit editions of Ultimate. One torrent website that claims to centralize in excess of 5,000 trackers has several downloads available.

The files vary in size from 20 MB to approximately 60 MB and there is no telling what the downloads actually contain. One thing that is for sure is that users are little interested in downloading DreamScene outside of Windows Vista Ultimate as the total number of downloads barely passes 3,000.
