According to Dell, the interest manifested by consumers in Windows Vista in the first weekend of availability has topped even the most optimistic expectations. Since January 27, Dell has began taking orders for systems preloaded with Windows Vista.

"Thanks to our direct sales system we are among the first to witness the users' enthusiasm related to Windows Vista," said Kevin Rollins Dell CEO. "In order to ensure that the users will enjoy the best experience possible, several thousands of our employees from the technical support teams have already participated in the training program for Windows Vista. Now they are ready to offer clients the support necessary in the migration process to this extraordinary operating system."

Dell failed to reveal the actual figures of Windows Vista's success bundled with the company's hardware. In this regard, Rollins only stated that Dell has experienced a jump of 20% in Web traffic and that it has already sold tens of thousands of copies of Windows Vista.

"Dell and Microsoft have worked together in order to make available a wide range of innovative products and services designed to make the best out of the revolutionary capabilities of Windows Vista and Office 2007," said Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO. Dealing on the basis of a direct sales system, Dell is a company close to its clients demands and that produces systems designed to deliver top and digital experiences."

"The purpose of the contemporary technologies is to help users stimulate their imagination, to have access to entertainment and to offer as much as possible in a digital environment safer than ever. With Windows Vista all these have become reality," added Rollins.

For the developing and testing of Windows Vista, Dell has collaborated with Microsoft since September 2003. Over 500,000 PC configurations have been tested by Dell engineers and this has resulted in more than 215,000 hours of technical training for the Dell support group.
