14 DAY TRIAL // Almost a month after the release to manufacturing of Windows Vista SP2, Microsoft has made the service pack available for download to the public. In this regard, the Redmond company started offering end users the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465). Accompanying the x86 and x64 packages is the Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone DVD ISO. Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 were released to manufacturing on April 28, 2009.
“Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2, a combined service pack for both operating systems encapsulated in a single installer, will simplify deployment, management, and support for IT Professionals. It includes support for new types of hardware and emerging hardware standards, as well as updates since SP1,” revealed Brandon LeBlanc, Windows communications manager on the Windows Client Communications Team.
According to the Redmond company the DVD ISO image of Vista SP2 RTM weighs in at 1,37 GB. The package brings to the table the Gold Service Pack 2 bits for Windows Server 2008 SP1 for x86, x64, IA-64 architectures and for Windows Vista SP1 for x86, x64 flavors. As the standalone releases, the DVD ISO package also covers the English, German, French, Japanese, and Spanish languages.
“Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 represents Microsoft’s continued commitment to quality. While most updates contained in SP2 are available as individual downloads, the roll-up convenience of SP2 is a major benefit for administrators. This functionality coupled with new advanced deployment features, such as the single installer and the pre-installation analyzer, means SP2 continues to provide ongoing improvements that our customers have grown to expect from Microsoft,” LeBlanc added.
