Feast your eyes on the never-before-seen lightening speed of the Windows Vista operating system. Forget about complex benchmarking tests and about performance comparisons between pre-final releases of Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3. Right now and right here, you will be able to experience first hand the true performance enhancements that Microsoft has delivered to its latest Windows client. Guaranteed to blow your mind away!

Just access the image integrated at the top of this article. You might be tempted to
say that it's a bug or even an error. But that is not the case. Not even by a long shot. Yes, the screenshot does depict a Windows Vista operating system managing the extraction of the contents of a .ZIP archive in 35,460 days and 21 hours! Boy, those 21 hours really threw me off. I mean, I actually had plans, on that Tuesday 97 years from now (I don't think it will be a Tuesday, but I didn't bother to check, it just sounded funny to me the way it was - random). But really, in 97 YEARS it's bound that I will be busy being dead and all...

But it's not a bug or an error. Actually, it can be a lot worst. As much as I wanted to hold the record for Vista's "performance" it will not be possible. My hat is off to Long Zheng, just access the image toward the bottom. It features Vista writing 15 MB on a CD in 47,117 days and 20 hours. Yes, I know, those extra 20 or so hours really make a difference. So you see, in the past Vista was burning 15 MB of content to a CD by 2136. Now, the same operating system, but with the performance enhancements delivered by Microsoft, extracts 73.4 MB by 2104.

This is an amazing improvement either way you look at it. And it is sure to increase your work-flow by years and years. I mean, forget about everything you are doing and run to the store. You have to get a copy of Windows Vista as soon as possible. I'll bet you have been waiting for an operating system that can perform a standard and anodyne extraction process in under 100 years all your life!!!

How can you say it is not a bug? I bet you leave it a few seconds it will get back to reality? What if the IO interface is in use? Or perhaps the test computers are really rubbish, and about to blow up! For a copy of 4,692 Files of size 8.34GB takes under 3 minutes with a peak speed of almost 60MB/s and average speed of 40MB/s when it comes to loads of little files.
