Vista-Compatible Security from Symantec

Symantec has been at Microsoft's jugular over the Kernel Patch Protection introduced into 64-bit Windows Vista making a common front with McAfee. Additionally, Symantec has even debuted
the Host Security Metasystem and laws of host security initiative, aiming to prevent a universal security monoculture such as PatchGuard, by dealing the security industry a hand related to kernel security instrumentation in Microsoft's operating system.

But this has not stopped Symantec from preparing for Windows Vista. In fact, the Cupertino based security company has announced the immediate availability for download of the beta versions of Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton AntiVirus 2007 fully compatible with Vista. Symantec revealed that the public beta versions are designed to deliver proactive protection against pyware, viruses, worms, hackers, phishing sites, and crimeware.

"As we near the consumer Vista release scheduled for January 2007, we want to reassure our more than 50 million active users that our leading PC security products will be available from day one to protect their PCs from today's evolving online threats," said Rowan Trollope, vice president, Consumer Engineering, Symantec. "With the beta release of Vista compatible versions of Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security, users of the latest Windows operating system will be able to completely secure their computers with the award-winning Norton products from Symantec."

A very important aspect of these products is that both Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton AntiVirus 2007 target "users running the beta version of the Microsoft Vista operating system," informed Symantec. While Symantec does not specify if Internet Security 2007 and AntiVirus 2007 will run with Vista RTM, I think it's safe to assume that it will and give it a try.

Current users of Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton AntiVirus 2007 which have purchased the two products will receive a Vista compatibility upgrade for free.
