With the holidays approaching fast, there was little chance that makers of electronics or just hardware components would stay silent, and Packard Bell definitely doesn't look ready to let the days go by without launching a new product.

What the company did was put together, as end-users no doubt already expect, its latest liquid crystal display monitor.

It is part of the Viseo series and, like all respectable multimedia-oriented monitors, uses the widescreen form factor.

It should probably be noted, however, that this newcomer was not designed with primary emphasis on performance and/or image quality.

Instead, Packard Bell figured it would focus on affordability while still implementing as many features as it could.

As such, the native resolution of the screen is not Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) as most may have gotten used to, but 1,366 x 768 pixels (HD).

On the other hand, the panel has a diagonal of 18.5 inches and a thickness of just 18mm, which is a thinness than many monitors on sale right now can brag about.

Of course, being a widescreen panel, the Viseo 191 has the expected aspect ratio of 16:9. Another thing is its dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1.

Other specifications include a response time of 5ms, D-Sub and DVI video inputs and built-in stereo speakers, so that one needn't necessarily acquire a pair of speakers.

Finally, so that even the energy efficiency aspect may be covered, the product has a power efficiency good enough that it was granted Energy Star 5.0 certification.

As already mentioned, Viseo 191 was primarily built for affordability, which means it will probably be a prospective purchase for many people during the holiday shopping season.

It is said to be priced at 110 Euro, though it is also implied that it may go for as low as 99 Euro.
