EA's Visceral Games studio is currently hard at work on completing Dead Space 2, but it has also released another game this year, in the shape of hack and slash title Dante's Inferno.

When asked about the possibility of a sequel to the pretty popular title, Dead Space 2 associated producer Zach Mumbach revealed that currently the studio isn't working on such a thing, as a sequel decision hasn't been taken by EA executives.

Dante's Inferno was a drastic departure for Visceral Games, as the company's last product was survival horror title Dead Space, but it still managed a pretty successful debut.

Also, seeing as how there are still two more parts to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, which inspired Dante's Inferno, lots of people thought that the title will lead a trilogy of games.

According to Mumbach, that's not exactly right, as the sequel decision can only be taken by EA executives, not by Visceral employees.

"I'm sure that if enough people are like, 'I got 60 dollars for Purgatory or Paradiso,' then we would make that game. But I don't know. I don't get to make those decisions," Mumbach revealed.

Still, he says that working as a part to EA is something great, as there isn't a pressure to develop yearly Dead Space titles or other sequels as fast as possible.

"I think they do a real good job. I've never felt like, 'We should be doing this, but EA is making us do that.' Especially since JR's come on board [CEO John Riccitiello]. JR's like 'Make good games. I need good games, give me good games.'"

EA recently admitted that its previous strategy, of yearly iterations for franchises like Need For Speed, really hurt the quality of the games, so under the leadership of John Riccitiello, things are changing and higher quality titles are being released, albeit not as fast as they used to.

Would you be interested in a sequel to Dante's Inferno or should Visceral take its time and work on other projects like future Dead Space titles or new properties?
