Visceral, not Criterion, is making a Battlefield spinoff, apparently

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has revised his prediction that Criterion Games is making a Battlefield spinoff shooter and now believes that Visceral Games, the studio behind the Dead Space series, is actually in charge of the project, besides its ongoing Star Wars title.

The Battlefield series is the most important first-person shooter franchise from EA, especially since the publisher retired the Medal of Honor saga last year.

As such, the company is looking for ways to allow Battlefield developer DICE some breathing room between installments.

Yesterday, Michael Pachter predicted that Criterion Games, the studio behind racing titles like Burnout or Need for Speed, is working on a Battlefield spinoff.

Today, he's revised that statement, according to Eurogamer, claiming that Visceral Games, the developer of the Dead Space franchise, is actually creating that first-person shooter.

This project joins the already-announced Star Wars title that's in development at Visceral right now.

EA has yet to comment on this report.
