It is just a rogue anti-spyware program

VirusProtect is the latest threat delivered through the web, although you may be tempted to believe it's a security solution supposed to defend your system from viruses. In fact, VirusProtect is only a rogue anti-spyware technology, which attempts to make you pay money for nothing. Let me explain it to you. Once it reaches your computer, no matter how, VirusProtects displays tens of warning and pop-up windows informing you about viruses and other infection apparently discovered on your computer. In order to remove the infections, you have to get the full version of the application, obviously by paying for it. The only problem is that the full release doesn't really... exist!

Here's experts' description on Virus Protect: "VirusProtect (also known as VirusProtect v.3.8) is a rogue anti-spyware program. It is usually installed via Trojans and web vulnerabilities (even though manual download and installation may also occur). VirusProtect pretends to be an anti-virus program, but is in fact a simple scam: it uses scare tactics (fake system notifications and pop-ups) to convince users to buy the full version of VirusProtect. This 'full version' is a fake", the description posted on the 2-spyware.com website reads.

The security company mentioned in the line above gave a severity scale of 80 out of 100 which underlines the fact that VirusProtect might be really dangerous for your system.

In case you think that VirusProtect may have reached your computer, you can easily check it by analyzing the running processes. This can be done with ease by starting the Windows Task Manager (right click on the Taskbar, and select Task Manager). In the Processes tab, just look for VirusProtect 3.8.exe, the executable file which appears to be used by the rogue anti-spyware solution to run on an affected system.
