On July 9, Oracle has announced the immediate availability for download and testing of the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming VirtualBox 4.3.14 virtualization software for Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X operating systems.

According to the official changelog, VirtualBox 4.3.14 RC1 can now be compiled in the recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 operating system. It brings USB performance fixes, several improvements to the 3D components, and properly detects the Microsoft Windows 8.1 guest OS type.

Furthermore, it improves the MSR emulation on various hardware, improves MSI handling, fixes a #UD exception for 64-bit guests, fixes a timekeeping error that appeared after resuming a multi-CPU virtual machine, and repairs two potential crashes on the graphical user interface.

Moreover, VirtualBox 4.3.14 RC1 fixes the inbound half-close bug discovered in the previous release, improves the upload speed, fixes a socket leak on Solaris hosts, and repairs an AHCI crash. More details can be found in the official release notes.

You can download VirtualBox 4.3.14 RC1 for Linux, VirtualBox 4.3.14 RC1 for Windows and VirtualBox 4.3.14 RC1 for Mac OS X right now from Softpedia. Be aware, though, that it is an unstable version that should not be installed on production machines, as it’s intended for testing purposes only.
