Another blame-it-on-the-games case, shot down

The world was shocked when 20 year old Cho Seung Hui shot and killed 32 plus a Romanian teacher (Liviu Librescu) at the Virginia Tech campus two days ago. It wasn't long before doctors and psychiatrists put the blame for this on violent video games and I'm quite surprised I haven't heard anything form Jack Thompson's mouth (game hating attorney extraordinaire). Anyway, just as everyone finished saying their opinions about who and what might have influenced Cho Seung Hui, clever blokes over at GayGamer, got a glimpse at a list of objects present in Cho's dorm room, in the search warrant.

Here they are:

■ Chain from top left closet shelf ■ Folding knife & combination padlock ■ Compaq computer from desktop ■ Assorted documents, notepads, writings from desktop ■ Combination lock ■ Dremel tool and case ■ Nine books, two notebooks, envelopes, from top shelf ■ Assorted books & pads from lower shelf ■ Compact discs from desktops ■ Items from desktop & drawers: Winchester multi tool, 3 notebooks, mail, checks, credit card ■ Items from 2nd door: Kodak digital camera, Citibank statement ■ Two cases of compact discs from dresser top ■ Drive: Seagate: 80 GB (why don't they do a recovery on it, see if Cho played Counter Strike in his spare time) ■ Six sheets of green computer paper ■ Mirror with blue plastic housing ■ Dremel tool box with receipt ■ Dell Latitude service tag

So, I'm guessing that if they found any shooter games on that Compaq computer, they'd let the world know. Anything else you'd like to add, Dr. Phil? And no, there weren't any arcade coins found either, if anyone thought it was a possibility that Metal Slug influenced the disturbed individual.

However, here's something I myself found out today reading a newspaper on the sub: detectives say that Cho Seung Hui had watched many times a South-Korean movie entitled "Oldboy," acting strikingly similar to the characters in the picture. Obsession and revenge were the motifs in the movie. Any doubts on what might have influenced him? Dr Phil? No? OK then, have a nice one everybody.
