Mobile phone users in Canada interested in the purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone can now head over to Virgin Mobile to make the purchase.

The wireless carrier has just announced the availability of the handset on its network as a RE*Generation phone, as MobileSyrup notes.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Virgin Mobile kicked off the Re*Generation program back in 2008, in an attempt to help at-risk and homeless youth to find new opportunities.

To be more precise, Virgin Mobile will donate $15 for every RE*Generation phone purchased on its network. Apparently, the company has managed to raise over $1 million to date.

Samsung Galaxy S5 arrives at the wireless carrier with all of the features and capabilities that it was made official with back in February, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

This includes a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, at a 432ppi pixel density, along with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.

Paired with 2GB of RAM, the CPU should be able to provide users with appealing performance capabilities at all times.

The mobile phone also arrives on the market with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot capable of delivering support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the new handset sports a 16-megapixel camera capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

For those out of the loop, we should also note that Samsung announced the smartphone with a 2800mAh battery inside, as well as with a dust-and water-proof design.

“We are very proud to partner with Virgin Mobile and its RE*Generation program for the sixth year in a row,” Samsung Canada’s Paul Brannen said.

“Getting Samsung’s newest and most innovative device and at the same time giving back to the community by making a difference in the lives of at-risk and homeless youth are two great reasons to pick up the GALAXY S5 at Virgin Mobile.”

The flagship Samsung smartphone was released at Virgin Mobile with a price tag of $229.99 (€154) attached to it with the signing of a two-year contract agreement. Those who would like to grab the Galaxy S5 without committing to a contract will have to pay $699.99 (€470) for it, as seen on the wireless carrier’s website.
