Virgin Mobile Announces Samsung Entro and Samsung Montage Feature Phones

Both are aimed at budget-conscious customers who mainly talk and text

Sprint’s no-term carrier Virgin Mobile USA has just launched two new feature-phones, which will be available for purchase in the following days.

Samsung Entro is a basic clamshell, which is now available for purchase online and at leading retailers for only $14.99 USD (12 EUR). Customers can grab the feature-phone beginning today via Virgin Mobile’s official sales channels.

The second mobile phone announced by the carrier, Samsung Montage is aimed at those who cannot afford or simply don’t need a smartphone.

The handset will be available starting August 20 for a suggested retail price of $49.99 USD (40 EUR). The Montage can be purchased online in about two weeks, and will go on sale at major retailers across the country later in the month.

When it comes to specs, both Samsung Entro and Montage offer just about the same features with one exception. The latter is a bit more expensive than the Entro due to the fact that it comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

In an economic climate where every penny counts, consumers are looking for ways to save money without giving up basic conveniences like mobile phone service,” said Mark Lederman, business line director, Virgin Mobile USA and payLo.

In addition, Samsung Montage packs a 2-megapixel rear photo snapper, Bluetooth support, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Other highlights of the slider include: threaded text messaging, email, web access, MP3 and video player, voice mail and caller ID.

Samsung Entro is slightly less featured than the Montage. The clamshell sports a small 1.77-inch display, a secondary color screen, speakerphone, web access and text messaging.

With a leading company like Samsung, we’re able to match cutting-edge design, popular features, and award-winning customer service with the value of our unlimited talk and text payLo plan for $40 per month, without a contract,” concluded Lederman.
