14 DAY TRIAL // The most recent season of E!’s hit reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, brought fans up to speed with the frenzy that took over the family in the weeks before Kim’s wedding to Kanye West, and stopped short of showing the wedding, as the couple had announced would happen months before.
That in itself confirmed long-existing suspicions that Kanye had drawn some boundaries for Kim as far as his involvement in the family’s reality show went and that he had made it clear that he would only make cameos whenever he felt like it.
Word in the industry has it that Kanye secretly believes that appearing as a regular on a reality show would further damage his street credibility and make his peers take him less seriously. By agreeing to do only cameos, he gets two birds with just one stone: he maintains his street cred because his reputation will be only slightly impacted, but he also gets to keep Kim happy.
Throughout season 8 of the series, Kanye’s decision to not appear on the show manifested itself as what the video below from Vulture dubs “the ghost of Kanye.” That is to say, knowing the actual Kanye would not show up, producers were forced to involve him in many storylines as an absence that everyone talked about.
The supercut below is as funny as it’s annoying, serving to prove that Kanye is notably absent for the entire season, save some exceptions. That’s not stopping the Kardashians from milking on the association, of course.
