SJP and Hanks went to a game together, and it wasn’t fun

It would be impossible to imagine anyone meeting and not loving Tom Hanks, since he comes across as the nicest, most adorable and kind male celebrity ever. Sarah Jessica Parker might disagree with that, it would seem.

The Vine below is now viral, after having been posted on social media during last night’s Rangers game, which took place at the Madison Square Garden.

SJP and son James Broderick were seated right behind Tom and sons Chet and Truman, and when Hanks’ face appeared on the Jumbotron, SJP, probably not thinking that the camera would move to her next, gave him the meanest, most delicious stink eye you’ve seen this week.

The fact that she was smacking gum only made the moment all the more memorable, so the video got plenty of traction online.

However, it was all a lie: SJP doesn’t really hate Tom Hanks. In fact, photos from the game available online show them chatting merrily on several occasions, with the actor turned towards Sarah and smiling broadly. She too seems pleased to be having whatever conversation they were having.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, she says that the Vine is taken out of context and can thus lead to a severe misunderstanding. “We were all pretend fighting about them being Kings fans and us being Rangers fans. I adore Tom and Rita,” she says.

The bottom line is, do you believe her?
