14 DAY TRIAL // Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated “Godzilla” came out last Friday and, as predicted by industry analysts, wreaked havoc at the box office. A sequel is on the way but, until it drops (which won’t happen for a few more years), here’s a video that pits Godzilla against a more dangerous enemy than the MUTOs.
Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim,” with Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba as leads, released last year, was dubbed a box office disappointment, but it still introduced moviegoers to the awesome Jaeger robots, created by man as a last resort in their hopeless fight against the Kaiju, giant monsters risen from the sea.
The fan-made trailer that I suggest for today’s Viral of the Day is actually a combination of both these films, advertising a faux movie, “Paczilla,” in which the Jaeger robots are the bad guys, going up against Godzilla.
Because the trailers for both films were edited in a similar fashion, making this faux trailer didn’t pose too much of a challenge. In fact, it actually has continuity in between scenes, to the point where it’s pretty convincing.
I don’t know about you but, even though this film would be called “Paczilla,” (“Paczilla”!?), I would still check it out, if only to see such an epic clash between giants.
