14 DAY TRIAL // This year, what with “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the first film in Warner Bros.’ Justice League franchise, going into production, we’ve been talking a lot about the studio’s efforts to catch up to its direct rival Marvel, which already has a very successful franchise going, The Avengers.
It’s clear that Warners is still a very long way to go to even come close to being a threat to Marvel, but that’s the goal.
While we’ve been focusing on the rivalry between the studios, one fan (Alex Luthor, he calls himself) chose to focus on what would happen if their respective properties, their superheroes, would also have it in for each other, thus delivering the best fan-made trailer for something that will never be: the ultimate Marvel vs. DC film.
You can see the trailer embedded below in full and in HD. There isn’t much of a story going on in there, except for the obvious: superheroes from Marvel hate those from DC Comics and the other way around. As such, they have no choice but to do battle against each other.
I assume that a direct confrontation between superheroes this powerful will ultimately result in the destruction of humankind, which is also sort of implied in the faux trailer. Until that happened, though, we’d be witness to a glorious fight, one that could tip the scales either way.
Useless to say, this trailer is meant only for superhero movie fans. It also includes some TV appearances from Wonder Woman and Arrow, but only because they never got the big screen treatment – and pretty much every other superhero you could ever think of, including both versions of Spider-Man and The Hulk.
