Universal Pictures’ “Jurassic World” opened on Friday and has already shattered box office records and has become the world’s biggest global opener of all time, making $511.8 million (€455.9 million) in its first weekend on domestic and international theaters.

That may be all fine and dandy, but it could have been so much better… if only audiences could understand what the dinosaurs were saying.

This is the film’s biggest flaw, according to film critic Peter K. Rosenthal, as today’s Viral of the Day video shows.

Rosenthal isn’t really a critic, obviously. The Onion is the most famous and hilarious satire website online, tackling anything from politics to environmental issues, religion and showbiz news.

They’re just as funny in their video review of this summer’s biggest blockbuster, highlighting how proper dialog could have furthered the narrative and how much audiences would have stood to gain if they could actually make out what the dinos were saying, instead of getting just roars.

Rosenthal even includes subtitles to several scenes to show how that would have worked. “Jurassic World” is a very entertaining movie, but it could have been so much more than just a summer flick if dialog had been used right.
