New Vine is even more confusing than previous viral video

Iggy Azalea is a very controversial presence on the hip hop scene: on one hand, her records are very successful, but on the other, she’s being shunned by her peers on claims that she’s appropriating their culture for profit.

Then, there’s this buzz around her that she’s not even that good of a rapper, which really took off in March, when a Vine of her “freestyling” went viral. The full video was even worse, partly because it came with confirmation that all this had happened more than one year earlier.

Apparently, these Vines of Iggy’s awful rapping skills are the gift that keeps on giving, because here’s another one. Again, this is Iggy’s idea of freestyling: just throw random words out there with enough speed and confidence, and hope that no one is really paying close attention to what you’re saying. Because she’s not really saying anything, is she?

For the record, as “gangsta” as Iggy strives to come across, she’s actually from Australia, where she grew up in a middle-class family. Rap was her second career choice, after she initially tried out to be a pop star in the vein of Britney Spears (down to the heavy Auto-tune and uuhs and aahs).

She defends herself from cultural appropriation accusations by saying industry people hate her because she’s a woman, thus making herself appear a feminist. Videos like this one are the reason why industry people don’t like her.
