Film could have been called “Where Is Peeta? Part 1”

In the latest video from Screen Junkies, we get the Honest Trailer for one of the biggest movies of last year, the third installment in the “Hunger Games” franchise, “Mockingjay Part 1,” boasting one of the most solid supporting casts in history, which, we’re told, is basically squandered away.

“Hunger Games” is based on Suzanne Collins’ trilogy of young-adult novels, but Lionsgate is going about the process of bringing them to the big screen in the same way as “Harry Potter” and “The Twilight Saga,” by splitting the last book into 2 films.

The problem with this one is that there’s simply not enough material in that book to make 2 standalone films, which is the same thing that was said about the 2 parts of “Breaking Dawn” from “Twilight.”

So, because Lionsgate is “casually redefining the word trilogy,” “Mockingjay Part 1” feels more like a money-grab than an actual, proper movie - and it’s a shame considering the kind of talent it had at its disposal.

This is the main point in the new Honest Trailer, which, as expected, skids over the positives, like the way in which the theme of war and politics is exploited, the acting, or the cinematography. After all, these videos are nit-picking at its best, not objective reviews of movies.

That said, here it is, enjoy!
