14 DAY TRIAL // Marvel is in a category of its own right now, thanks to its Avengers franchise and its many spinoffs, so when they announced plans to make a “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, most fans were surprised because they had no idea who these were.
As it turns out, the film was based on a lesser known Marvel comics, and it was so action-packed, so fun and funny, and so well acted that it became an instant hit with audiences. As of the time of writing, it’s the biggest selling movie of the year 2014, and you can bet your last dollar it will remain that by the month’s end.
That’s not to say that “Guardians” isn’t without flaws though, as the folks over at Screen Junkies point out in the hilarious Honest Trailer released for it.
They have been at it for years, and this new video, also available below, proves they haven’t lost their magic touch yet. Even if you loved the film, like I did, you can’t but admit that there’s a lot of truth in the Honest Trailer, from the similarities to other Marvel movies, to the fact that, indeed, the studio could put anything on screen and we’d still watch it.
Or as the narrator in the Honest Trailer says, “what are you gonna do? Watch DC [Comics]?” Personally, I will put off answering that until “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” from Warner Bros. (based on DC Comics material) comes out, because “Man of Steel” hasn’t gotten me sold on the franchise yet.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” stars Chris Pratt (aka Marvel Chris #3), Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, David Bautista and Vin Diesel, who you won’t see because he’s voicing Groot and, yes, he has only one line to say.
