Honest Trailer is so brutally honest and true it hurts

Screen Junkies is always delivering amazing Honest Trailer videos, and their most recent, for the entire “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise from Disney, is no different. However, it is so true and honest and hits so close to home, that for a brief second, it even stops being funny.

You can see it in full and in HD below, as usual.

Before Disney came in the picture and turned Johnny Depp into an international star, he was, as the video states, an intriguing, hard-working and very talented actor with lots of potential.

Of course, that’s not to say that the way his career went downhill afterwards was Disney’s fault, but throwing huge amounts of money at him did help him get more comfortable, to the point where, today, he hardly makes an effort, and all his characters are variations of the same caricature of himself. Like in “Mortdecai.”

“Witness the Disneyfication of the ruthless pirates,” the video says, while conceding that the first 2 films were actually decent releases worthy of the hype they got. However, the last 2 installments, and particularly the 4th one, “On Stranger Tides,” was nothing but a very obvious, and not too well-executed either, money-grab.

The bad news for all of you in agreement with what is said in the video is that a fifth movie is getting made, also with Johnny Depp. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is now in pre-production and will be released in 2017.

Depp probably has no intention of stepping outside his comfort zone, as far as acting goes. After all, he does have his own island, so why should he try anymore?
